Recession Busting Wedding Entertainment Ideas

During the current uncertain economic climate, trying to arrange your wedding within a sensible budget can be a daunting task. It’s important to carefully consider when, what and where to make cutbacks.

The evening wedding entertainment can really make or break your day and that of your guests too. Nobody will remember what design your wedding cake was or what shoes the bride wore 5 years from now but EVERYONE will remember a fantastic party where they danced all night to an amazing band!

The Simply Swing Wedding Band has thought carefully about how to accommodate more wedding couples during these times of cut backs and recession and we’ve come up with some recession busting entertainment options!

Our main party band is our 6-Piece but, if you have up to around 150 guests, you could quite easily get away with our 5-Piece band. If you have a smaller party with up to 60 guests you could even book our Quartet. For smaller budgets, we have our Solo Wedding Singer option with backing tracks, which is a fantastic option when followed by our disco service. We run our entertainment over a 3-4 hour slot and will provide background music before and after the live music ends, thus filling those awkward silent gaps.

Our disco service can be added to any of our band options and, if your wedding is not peak season, you may be able to take advantage of one of our fantastic special wedding offers so keep watching the website!

Despite the weather, we played a great gig last week in the marquee at the lovely Trunkwell Mansion near Reading in Berkshire. Simply Swing is no stranger to the many Berkshire wedding venues dotted around the county, but this was the first time we had the pleasure of playing at Trunkwell Mansion.

Hedsor House Swing Band, Taplow, Bucks

Great gig last week for Guy and Judith at the stunning Hedsor House in Taplow, Buckinghamshire. Simply Swing played in the beautiful entrance hall where a black and white dance-floor had been installed and was lit up beautifully. The guests were truly ready to party when the band started playing and the dance-floor was packed all night. Guy and Judith chose the famous Ray Charles song “Hallelujah I Love Her So” as their first dance as a married couple which was a very unusual but perfect choice. The couple left the venue as the band finished, leaving Simply Swing’s disco service in full flight for the remaining guests to enjoy.

Wedding Entertainment Music: Pianist, Band and Disco at Wotton House, Dorking

Great gig at the weekend at the beautiful Wotton House in Dorking for the wedding of Rachel and David. The weather was fantastic and Simply Swing provided a full day of entertainment starting with a solo pianist for the drinks reception in the afternoon playing the electric grand piano on site in the bar at Wotton House. Then our flag-ship 6-piece band played for the evening reception and we rounded the night off with our disco service.

Rachel and David specifically wanted a Rat Pack feel to their evening and began the dancing with the fabulous “Fly Me To The Moon” as made famous by Frank Sinatra. This is always such a great choice for a first dance.

Never shy to miss a fancy dress photo opportunity, Simply Swing piled into a video booth with a big shoe in it and here’s the result!

Swing Wedding Band at Beauberry House, Dulwich

Great gig last night at Beauberry House in Dulwich. Wonderful venue with great staff at the wedding of Rachel and Richard where the guests danced all night long. This is the first time we have worked at Beauberry House and the Events Manager – Oleia Leclercq – (who also happens to be winner of Best Wedding Co-ordinator for London and The South East Wedding Industry Awards 2011/12) was so impressed with the band that she has added us to Beauberry House’s recommendation list! Thanks Oleia.

Swing Band at The Waldorf, London

A great gig last Saturday at the Hilton Waldorf London, where Simply Swing played for Susan and James’ huge Indian/Irish wedding reception with over 300 guests. The band was treated to the most amazing curry and we all had a smile on our faces (see the wonderful photo by Maria Murray).
Tomorrow night (29th June) the band will be performing at The Belvedere in Billericay, open to the public, tickets £9 on the door 8 pm start. Hope to see you there!
