Weddings at The Royal Academy Sandhurst
We are quite at home with Military parties of all types and last night our wedding pianist played for a beautiful autumn wedding at the Royal Academy Sandhurst. After a spectacular meal, Tim and Eileen chose our pianist for after-dinner entertainment whilst enjoying cheese, port and gentle conversation. The Bride, who was a trained singer, joined our pianist at the end of the evening for an impromptu sing-song of Gershwin classics. Her rendition of “Someone To Watch Over Me” was sublime and a wonderful surprise for the guests. Eileen certainly kick-started a sing-song as the next act up was a dear friend of the couple who sang “On The Street Where You Live”, also accompanied by our pianist.
The Royal Academy Sandhurst is a simply stunning military venue. All serving Officers are granted permission to be married here as well as any of their children. The wedding ceremony itself is held at the Royal Memorial Chapel. Our pianist or band can play in the FASC Dining Room or The Lakeside Room and, for larger weddings or parties, in one of the Sandhurst Marquees.
Military Party Band
Simply Swing is a popular choice of band for military parties including Christmas balls, summer balls and welcome home parties. We have played at RAF Benson and RAF Brize Norton and for the Army at the Colchester Garrison and HAC London.
Several of our band members flew from RAF Brize Norton to The Falkland Islands, Ascension Islands and Belize to perform for The Combined Services Entertainment (CSE). CSE is the live entertainment arm of the Services Sound and Vision Corporation (SSVC), a registered British charity, and is the official provider of live entertainment to the British Armed Forces.
